This award acknowledges Abengoa Solar's contribution to the economic development of Jefferson County.

Denver (Colorado), March 26. – Emiliano García, General Manager of Abengoa Solar in the United States, was presented today with the Industrial Recognition Prize, an award through which the Jefferson County Economic Development Agency has acknowledged Abengoa Solar’s contribution to the economic development of the county.
The Economic Development Agency also highlighted Abengoa Solar’s commitment to business growth through capital investment and hiring of employees, which has had a positive impact on Jefferson County.
Upon accepting the prize, Emiliano García, General Manager of Abengoa Solar in the United States, pointed out that the company’s headquarters in Lakewood (Jefferson County) “is the perfect place in which to develop and continue to promote leadership in the highly significant field of solar energy.”
Abengoa Solar, with headquarters in the United States since 2006, has its main office in Lakewood (Colorado). This office is where the company’s administrative, research and development, and manufacturing activities are concentrated. With a staff headcount of 53 employees, the company’s facilities total 5,000 m2.
Abengoa Solar focuses its activities on promoting, building and operating electrical power plants and customized installations for producing heat, steam and climatization. Since the company began its business activities in the United States, it has carried out diverse projects, noteworthy among which is the largest installation for producing heat for industrial processes, in California, as well as current promotional activity involving Solana, a parabolic trough collector solar station with 280 megawatts of power output capacity. In the area of research and development, Abengoa Solar is carrying out various projects in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
