Solar Congress: World Solar Power

World Solar Power 2007

The "World Solar Power Conference" was intended to be the world's premiere conference and meeting place for all those involved in the development of large-scale electricity-generating facilities based on Concentrated Solar Power and Concentrating Photovoltaic technologies.

The conference included individual scientists and engineers, research centers, project development organizations, construction and operating companies, electric utilities, public and financing entities.

Key aspects of these emerging industries were addressed during the conference, specifically:

  • The technologies that make the efficient transformation of solar radiation into electricity possible.
  • The legal frameworks needed to facilitate the development and financing of solar installations.
  • The strategic policies of countries and regions that support further use of CSP and CPV technologies.

The conference was held in the "Hospital de los Venerables", in Seville. Seville is the global headquarters of the Focus-Abengoa Foundation. Industry executives, senior government officials and leading industry experts were in attendance.

In addition to the conference, attendees had the opportunity to visit the Solar Platform being constructed by Abengoa Solar at the nearby municipality of Sanlucar la Mayor, Seville. This Solar Platform is a world-class reference site for CSP technologies.
